Hello,

I’m currently working on revamping my email marketing strategy, as growing my subscriber base is a big goal of mine this year. I’ve been using MailerLite, but I keep hearing the community talk about Convert Kit.

In my early research stages, before I purchased MailerLite, I was torn between MailerLite and Convert Kit. I ended up picking MailerLite. Now since I’m really serious about growing my email subscriber base, do you think there is a better tool than MailerLite out there or should I keep it.

I’ll be honest, there is one thing I hate about it and I’m not sure if others are experiencing this. But it always requires me to verify my login with a code that they email me. But it always takes over an hour for me to get the code, and essentially login, and it always throws off my workflow and makes me slower.

Thanks,

Audrey Sommer

Audrey,

I’m going to tell you what I’m doing in this arena, with the caveat that this is just my own personal experience.

In my day-job, I’ve used email campaign software for a decade and I’ve used many of the platforms out there. I love Hubspot and I love ActiveCampaign, but they both offer masses of functionality that I don’t need or use in my food-writing, and they are pricey.

So, I too saw everyone raving about ConvertKit and I’ve been using it for almost a year. I’ve tried really hard to make it work for me, and I want to say that perhaps some of my issues are because I’m not a WordPress user (for some complicated reasons).

I’ve been experimenting with Klaviyo and I’m going to move away from ConvertKit. I am loving Klaviyo’s templates and their ‘flows’ which allow me to set up chains of emails and just let them run with triggers/delays/conditions.

My main reason for loving ConvertKit was the community of creators and the systems for mutual recommendations. However, I had to turn the feature off because it was breaking the forms on my website. That could very easily just be a Wix-ConvertKit thing, so please don’t take it as ‘solid’.

I’m happy to take the conversation offline if you want to. I’m pretty sure you’ve emailed me directly before.

Jo

Thank you Jo! No, your experience is really valuable. That’s interesting though. I have wordpress, so I hope I wouldn’t have a problem like that. I also use HubSpot for my work and absolutely love it, but probably won’t ever be able to justify the price. I’ve never used active campaign though.

I’ve used professionally mailchimp and infusionsoft, but didn’t like them for various reasons and wouldn’t want to use them for my food blog. So, I went with what the buzz of the food community was talking about – mailerlite and/or convertkit.

Thanks again,

Audrey Sommer
